"Welcome to the Revolution", 2018

Three panel multi-media installation: Collage, Photography, T-shirt Design

About the art...

This edgy group show revitalized a formerly empty storefront in downtown Westport. I displayed three works, each unified by the title piece "Welcome to the Revolution". The collage used mod-podged strips of newsprint ripped from the front page of the "New York Times" and featured a pristine titular T-shirt folded and protected by crystal clear acrylic glass. A red metal hammer was attached at the side, labeled with specific instructions to "Break Glass in Case of Emergency". The center image was a 40" framed black and white double exposure photographic print of the historic Canons at Compo Beach.  Finally, a ripped, burned, embroidered T-shirt was nailed to the wall with 17 rose gold nail heads, symbolizing the 17 victims of the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School shooting in Parkland, Florida.

#TrueGirl

Heroes Comics and Cards, Norwalk, CT

6/2/17

#TrueGirl is a six panel installation celebrating our inner superhero. The oversized comic book layouts feature local women athletes, some in the midst of performing feats of strength during the 2017 CrossFit Open at CrossFit Westport in Norwalk, CT. At the heart of each collage is a powerful driving force--lightning, tornado, electricity or even a personal mantra--that we can all access to achieve our heart's desire. The message of strength is further enhanced by speech bubbles with quotes from the original 1970's Wonder Woman series and the iconic 2017 blockbuster film. 16" x 24" sublimated ink jet prints on .045 gauge aluminum. Mounted to 1/8" Sintra with attached wall bracket.

$325 each.

Crushing It: Portraits of Women Athletes

Athleta, Westport, CT

5/21/15

"Crushing It: Portraits of Women Athletes" was inspired by my years assisting in the fashion industry styling magazine covers, and the lack of powerful images of women historically in mainstream media. Inspired by local athletes, I sought out women thirty years old and up who embodied grit, beauty, true femininity and strength. As a female photographer and novice crossfitter myself, I presented a woman's artistic gaze at my athletic subjects (as opposed to the male gaze that permeates most female imagery in our popular culture). Ink jet prints were then blown up to life-sized and printed on black gator board. Athleta Westport hosted my show on opening night of Westport's local Art Expo "Art About Town". Selected prints are currently on display at CrossFit Westport and JoyRide Cycling Studio.

Main Street Solo Show

Oscar's Deli, Westport, CT

11/1/15-1/1/16

At the time of my first Solo Show, Oscar's Deli was one of the last remaining "Mom & Pop" establishments on Main Street in Westport, CT. The owner, Lee Papageorge (aka the 'Mayor of Main Street'), embraced my idea to feature large hanging plexiglass prints of the town's natural beauty above his red plastic diner booths. What better way to enjoy your bagel and lox than with a smattering of local art? Dee-lish.
